You can buy a Samsung EVO and put it in an external USB enclosure. USB 3 is definitely fast enough to record to. Or, you can have your Samsung SSD put into your mac mini by a technician. This is the better way to go because having your OS and apps on an SSD will definitely speed up your machine. With an SSD, you can record to your internal drive. No need for an external.
