Unless avid has changed something in the last couple years, the workspace was 
the only place where you could import files and have Pro Tools still 
obey/comform to certain metadata like loop info and etc.  Also workspace allows 
for sorting/grouping/searchng by said metadata also in a way the standard 
import dialog didn’t. At one point.
