Consider this a bit of a public service announcement for VoiceOver users who
use Pro Tools. There have always been several keyboard shortcuts in Pro Tools
that have conflicted with VoiceOver. They haven't been problems, per se, as
there were only a couple. Without getting into details, there are a number of
keyboard shortcuts coming up in future versions of Pro Tools that will add to
the conflicts. Yes, it's possible to pass through the key commands but the
nature of the upcoming shortcuts is such that one might want to repeatedly use
these shortcuts and passing through would be an exercise in inefficiency.

It is for this reason especially that I'd highly recommend switching the
VoiceOver keys from Control+Option to CapsLock if you haven't already done so.
I know that quite a number of users have their settings set to use both and
some have made the full transition. I made it a point this year to make the
jump and I'm glad I did. I made the initial transition before knowing that the
upcoming Pro Tools shortcuts would conflict so I'm happy to have made the
change early on. I'd encourage users to get used to the alternative because
you'll be glad you made the switch when the time comes.

There is the one aspect of the modifier only being on the left side of the
qwerty keyboard that makes left side combinations somewhat trickier at first
but you really do get used to it quickly. When I switched over, the first day
was difficult and the second day was much easier. Within 3 days it became easy
and, at this point, I'd never go back.

I know a bunch of you have already done this so I'm just giving a heads up to
those who haven't yet made the adjustment. Getting used to it now, before the
new shortcuts are implemented, will make it easier later on.
