GarageBand doesn’t require any special interfaces. If an audio interface is core audio compatible which basically means if it supports working on the Mac it will work in garage band. Same with midi controllers. GarageBand is great about detecting any connected midi device and usually all you have to do is plug one in for GB to find it and start using it immediately.
