All I can say is that if I record a .wav file -- usually from my
iphone via my roderec mic with a sample rate of 48k and bit depth of
24, if I don't check that check box then the import audio window says
that the file can be added directly to my session which is also at a
sample rate of 48k and bit depth of 24. If I check the box, then the
import window wants to convert the file, I am not sure what it is
converting -- sample rate is still all the same, 48k and 24 bits.

Your life is like a penny. You're going to lose it. The question is:
How do
you spend it?
