Hi,

I am new in music recording, and needs guidance in terms of software and work
with it as a blind person.

First, I would like to ask which version of ProTools to buy?

I have a Mac book Air 2015 with I5 and 8GB ram.

It is running Mojabe but I can downgrade if is the case to High Sierra.

I am looking to start music and sound production from September at Bournemouth
University UK, and needs a bit of preparation for that.

I have an audio interface from Audient but an audio mixer Soundcraft Signature
10 and a couple of good condenser studio mics

Do you think it is OK for start?

.

What about flowtools scripts?

Thanks for your answers.

I found some old videos on Youtube about Protools with Mac but the web site
Protools with speech where the videos are pointing you to is not online any
longer.

It is any blind user available to provide a training course one to one for
newbies?

I know, I have no espectation to learn everything in terms of mixing and other
advanced staf but at list to understand the basics and probably to be able to
record a very simple song.

Thanks for your answers.

Adrian Tamasan

Neither Logic nor Pro Tools uses VST. Pro Tools uses a format known as AAX and
Logic uses a Format known as AU or AudioUnit. Most plug in vendors that make a
VST will have an AAX or AU version of their plug in. Reaper is accessible on
both Mac and windows and will let you use VST’s. On Windows you can use
Samplitude as well.

Pro Tools is only accessible for us on the Mac using Mac OS. It doesn't work
with VST instruments but instead uses it's own format. If you want to use VST
instruments then you will need to either stay in Windows and use Samplitude or
Reaper or use compatible VST instruments on the Mac using Logic. There are
definitely more free VST instruments on the Windows side than there are on the
Mac.

Hi,

As far as I know, it’s not a problem to install an earlier version of the OS
when a new machine has arrived… At least not the most recent previous system.
It’s available in the App Store. Maybe it’s also possible to simply restart the
machine in recover mode and access the installer for a previous system from
there?

Best,
John André

I don't do anything commercial with it, but if I did, and my system was
functioning amazingly and stable using an older OS, I wouldn't change it. The
issue is that the new Macs are all coming with Mojave preinstalled, so people
buying these systems will just have to be patient while Avid gets things
working correctly. Pro Tools is simply the easiest for Voiceover users to get
their heads around, so it'$ just gonna be a thing for us. Fortunately, there's
no real reason to update to Mojave. It adds no accessibility functionality.

what would be the best os that we can use when using pro tools? I'm trying to
get as much information concerning specs because I plan to move to pro tools as
soon as I check some other things! I'd also would like to know, whether I can
use instruments from gospelmusicians.com <http://gospelmusicians.com> in pro
tools as vst instruments with pro tools! Thank you for any information that
you might have concerning my questions!
