My understanding is that the replacement of licenses is up to the discretion of 
the developer. To me, it's kind of a no-brainer to use an iLok key for 
everything if possible. That said, it's also been convenient to just throw a 
license on the drive to free up a USB slot if necessary. Horses for courses, I 
guess.
