If you're having your stuff mastered by someone else, your ultimate levels
should be anywhere from minus 6 to minus 2 db full scale. There's no "proper
volume level at the outset while mixing. You give yourself plenty of headroom
and regularly check your master bus to see how much headroom you have.
Ultimately, though, you can adjust your master's output at any point regardless
of the levels you're getting. It's more a matter of having enough headroom on
individual tracks so that you have room to boost when you need to. If you start
with individual tracks too high, you'll have no where to go in case you want to
bring up a track and you've maxed out the fader gain.

Regarding Flo Tools, there's no such thing as "commands to perform the mixing
task." There is only the operation of Pro Tools for mixing and Flo Tools speeds
up that process and makes it way more efficient.
