Version 0.1 of the Ptolemy II Design document is now available at

   http://ptolemy.eecs.berkeley.edu/ptolemyII/doc/design.html

Please take a look. We welcome feedback.

We hope to have Ptolemy II version 0.1 released shortly. Ptolemy II
0.1 will include the Design document and the Ptolemy II core Java
packages, but will not include the GUI or any of the domains.

We view the 0.1 release as a "developers release" for people interested in
working on innovative domains, or people interested in better understanding
what we are doing (and giving us early feedback). It will not be particularly
useful to end users, since it has no domains.

In house, we several domains that are operational, including DE, SDF,
CT (continuous time), PN, FSM, and CSP (communicating sequential processes).
All of these will be included in the 1.0 release of Ptolemy II, which
will be the first release that is useful to end users. But the code
for these domains is not yet ready for public consumption, and the
actor library (formerly "star" library) is too limited.
Over the next couple of months we expect to putting applets on the web
that use these domains and demonstrate their capabilities.
We plan the 1.0 release to roughly coincide with the Ptolemy Miniconference
on February 19.

Watch this space!
