RH6.0 comes with new libstdc++-2.9.0 linked against the newer glibc-2.1.1 and new egcs-1.1.2 compiler. While most C programs (as vem) from RH5.x may probably run, most C++ programs (as pigiRpc) from RH5.x will not run under RH6.0. They must be rebuild under RH6.0 in order to run. See attached mail for new RH6.0 Ptolemy packages! BTW, RH6.0 runs just like a charm and is really big step forward (IMHO). Although named kernel-2.2.5-22, this kernel (Build Date: Wed Jun 2 15:09:08 1999) from the RH6.0 upgrades directory contains many fixes and new features from later kernels as well as additional patches and addons from RedHat. Look in ftp://schwan.e-technik.tu-ilmenau.de/pub/ptolemy-0.7.1p1-9/ for new RH-6.0 packages. In any case, read the file KNOWN_BUGS before installing. DO NOT try to uninstall or upgrade Ptolemy before downgrading rpm! Best regards, Wolfgang. PS: I did not yet find time to write the installation notes. -- Wolfgang Reimer (Dr.-Ing.)
