PTP participated today in the local incarnation of a world wide event, called One Web Day. It was held at Pioneer Courthouse Square in downtown Portland. On a mundane level, I was on the organizing committee and took responsibility for setting up the network (I got some great help from Peter at EasyStreet and Adam from the City of Portland). We used an Alix I got last week from NetGate and a 24-port switch I got from FreeGeek on Saturday for $10.
I also got the chance to talk to numerous people and had some excellent interactions. Michael Weinberg was one of the featured speakers and gave a great speech about where Portland is and where it needs to go. Portland Community Media was there and filmed the event until about 1pm. It was recorded and available on line here: http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/732315 I was briefly interviewed about PTP starting at about 45m47s to 48m13s into the stream. The speeches start at about 1h08m. Michael Weinberg's wonderful speech starts at 1h20m50s and runs about 5 minutes. -- Russell Senior, Secretary [EMAIL PROTECTED] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ The Personal Telco Project - http://www.personaltelco.net/ Donate to PTP: http://www.personaltelco.net/donate Archives: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.wireless.portland.general/ Etiquette: http://www.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/MailingListEtiquette List information: http://lists.personaltelco.net To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
