INTEL TWO-DAY WORKSHOP ON
Cognitive Radios - Enabling Cognitive Radios in the Low Cost Consumer
Industry

Location: Intel Conference Center, Hillsboro, OR
Dates: November 6-7, 2008
Who can attend: Open to industry and academia
RSVP Required: Send email to Katherine L. Marek, [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Directions: To be provided after RSVP
Note: This is NOT an IEEE sponsored event

Sponsor: Intel Research Council Communications Committee

Recent trends toward better spectrum utilization, multi-radio platforms,
and improved coexistence have spawned an impressive growth in research
in the area of Cognitive Radios(CRs). CRs promise to enhance the
radio's ability to (re)use spectrum, coexist with other radios and
enhance the user experience by intelligently configuring and optimizing
the radio's operating parameters and learning from past experiences.
This is made possible by the recent advancements in RF technologies,
reconfigurable/software radios, innovative networking strategies and the
ongoing spectrum regulatory developments which allow the
commercialization of CR devices in the marketplace.

Intel Corporation is hosting a CR Workshop with the theme "Enabling
Cognitive Radio for the Low Cost Consumer Space" to catalyze the
research in CRs and bring together the key stakeholders in this area.
The Workshop will focus on extracting technologies and architectures
relevant to the low cost consumer market and bring about business models
which enable the successful commercialization of cognitive radio based
technologies in the marketplace. The Workshop will feature prominent
speakers from academia and industry. Interactive panel discussions
which will bring up the challenges, technologies, and business
opportunities in the CR arena.

This workshop is open to both internal and external attendees. If you
have colleagues which you think would be interested in this workshop,
please send an email to Katherine L. Marek with their name and email
address and we will send them an invitation to attend and details of the
event.

Please RSVP to Katherine L. Marek so that we can have an accurate headcount.

applications which would benefit from CR technologies. Various product
groups will be represented to discuss the priorities of CR for different
consumer and mobile products.

**Panel 2: How do we overcome the main technical hurdles to implement
cognitive radio technologies in the low cost consumer space?
This panel is a follow-on to Panel 1, academia experts in CRs working on
different network layers will extract the main hurdles and research
vectors for enabling the use cases of cognitive radios in the low cost
consumer space.
