I have a lot of different types of CF readers, the ones I've had the best luck with by far are the "pro-grade" models that use firewire 800 as an interface they are a lot more money (70~80$) but if you are loading/unloading data lots (we unload 4gigs of RAW or TIFF/JPG at a whack) a USB version can take up to 30min, I knock 20 minutes off using my firewire 800 model. They DO have firewire400 models for 20(sandisk)
