When I had Fios, it required their "modem". If they installed via coaxial cable, you still need it, they did say if they provisioned via ethernet you could use your own(but you will have to call them to re provision it) The FIOS router they provide is a horrible little device, doing pass through is terrible.
So Keith, I think if you want to use your own, you may have to call them to map it.
