While Russell was running all over town fixing nodes, I laid down, rather extensively, my thoughts on Clearwire's Clear service.
You can read it here: http://blog.personaltelco.net/2009/01/08/thoughts-on-clearwire In many ways, this falls into the "because someone asked" category, since it's only tangentially relevant to PTP, but I have been asked what my opinion is, so I figured I'd share it in an accessible fashion. Also, for better or for worse, publishing your opinion on a blog seems to carry significant weight in tech spheres, and while I and many other PTPers spent about 2 years being very right about what would happen with Unwire Portland and MetroFi, it seemed that many bloggers who were very wrong drove the dialog and perpetuated myths about the realities of wireless service and the market for it. On the one hand, I hate to endorse the notion that any idiot with a keyboard and 5 minutes to install Wordpress is an expert, but, well, we are experts on wireless--and certainly wireless in Portland--and if a blog helps the world to digest that expertise, so be it. Enjoy (but if you have the choice between node building and my blog post, please work on the nodes.) -- Michael Weinberg President Personal Telco Project, Inc.
