That's what I'm hoping we can do in this thread. I've already made a
suggestion (a permutation on the statue of liberty). Michael has made
a suggestion. I have already moved on to thinking about ways in which
we might pull those ideas off in a compelling way.

No, the PTP message is not techno-mastery. We might be
techno-masterful, but as a message, that just gives people an excuse
to sit back and watch the pathetic few of us do our pathetic thing.
It can't scale up that way. The PTP message is really something more
like "freedom to cooperate", "share your tubes" and/or "cooperate with
your neighbors", and giving them a concrete way that they can act to
do that. We need lots and lots of people helping us, helping
themselves and helping their neighbors. And for that, we need to
reach people who don't know about us already, and there are many, many
of them.

I see the Starlight Parade as a low barrier to entry method of
reaching lots of people with that simple message. A year ago we
talked about buying a large ad in the newspaper that would have cost a
lot of money. This seems more fun, more effective and less expensive.
Certainly, only a fraction will notice us. But a tiny fraction of a
large number can still be significant.

I think we shouldn't prejudge what we might be capable of. We either
can or can't, and we'll figure that out soon enough. You can speak
for yourself with full authority, but let's not cast aspersions on
others without sufficient grounds.
