We live in interesting times, a fact that can be exploited with the
proper finesse. Given that we are now seeing the starts of what could
be the biggest public works push since the 40's there could well be a
case made funding a project like this. One the other hand  funding
pitches are being tossed about hot and heavy by other causes who claim
to be of great importance (housing, bank bail outs, education). One of
the big ups this plan has is the potential for it to pay for itself
over time.

I think a good way to test the winds is just to look around at how
Oregon, and Portland in particular, react to and utilize the monies
being sent up by the fed in recent weeks. It would be a damn good sign
if projects of a foward looking nature are taken up  in the course of
disbursement.

I want to thank Russell for keeping the flame of the PTP going. With
so many things nibbling away at time and resources it is a good thing
to know there is a core of still beating.
