Connecting an external antenna to a laptop radio can be a bitch. Following the lead of some others, including Jason McArthur, I started wardriving a few years ago using embedded devices. The current device of choice is based on an Alix board, and is (partially) described our wiki: http://wiki.personaltelco.net/AlixStumbler and in the WgtStumbler page it refers to. I power mine from an external 12V SLA battery, but many permutations are possible. I upload my data to wigle.net. It is fun and stupid and wasteful, all at the same time! -- Russell Senior, Secretary [email protected] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ The Personal Telco Project - http://www.personaltelco.net/ Donate to PTP: http://www.personaltelco.net/donate Archives: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.wireless.portland.general/ Etiquette: http://www.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/MailingListEtiquette List information: http://lists.personaltelco.net To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
