figured I'd chime in, even though it's late in the discussion. What I care about:
1) letting people know that sharing wifi is a benefit to the community and an easy way of being a good neighbor 2) letting people know that sharing wifi is not only safe but can actually protect you. 3) showing people there are ways of sharing wifi that can both protect their internal network and decide how much you want to share. 4) letting people know that if we can get together as a community and decide to share, we can accomplish some truly revolutionary things. These are the things that excite me. I'm not exactly sure anymore how to do these things effectively within PTP without taking on more than I can chew. Hotspots are great and I truly appreciate all the hard work people have put into setting these up and maintaining them. After being at a few emergency calls, I realize that the setups are more than I want to understand. I'm also not a system administrator / network engineer / wireless engineer. So, do I care that PTP exists? Of course. Do I want to help it achieve its mission statement? Absolutely, in as much as the way I spend what little free time I might have dovetails with what gets me excited about PTP. What skills I have that might be helpful? Web / software development, basic instillations, talking to people. Thanks for all the hard work, Seth. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ The Personal Telco Project - http://www.personaltelco.net/ Donate to PTP: http://www.personaltelco.net/donate Archives: http://news.gmane.org/gmane.network.wireless.portland.general/ Etiquette: http://www.personaltelco.net/index.cgi/MailingListEtiquette List information: http://lists.personaltelco.net To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe from this group, send email to [email protected] -~----------~----~----~----~------~----~------~--~---
