(CC'ing a bunch of people who have either reported problems or helped
or threatened to help work on this node in the past)

I regret to inform you that our benefactor at NodeCommunitecture,
Brian Perry, apparently died yesterday of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
My information is that his wife was also injured in the incident.
Some years ago, Brian (who owned the building) contacted us about
installing the node, and funded about $500 of gear on the roof. Just
recently we received another donation of $200 to help upgrade the
node.

Recently, the node has been having trouble. Just yesterday PTP
purchased a new device to go on the roof and had a call into Brian's
voice mail about arranging access to install it. When I visited
today, I got the news. I understand this story made the local media
yesterday:

This is terrible news. Brian was a great supporter of PTP and what we
are trying to do, and a wonderful, generous human being. Our hearts
go out to his wife and other loved ones.

Regrettably, this is going to complicate getting the node repaired
until things get sorted out. I power cycled the rooftop device
repeatedly and never saw a peep out of it while I was there today. It
is possible that the power-over-ethernet injector is faulty and I'll
try replacing that tomorrow. If that doesn't fix it, we may have to
get creative.

This node has served as many as 420 unique client devices since late
October. That is quite a community of people. It would be helpful if
the community of node users can work together with us to keep this
node alive, one way or another. Please contact me to help, and please
let your neighbors know as well. We've lost Brian, but we don't have
to lose the node. All it takes is the kind of generous spirit that
Brian had.

Thanks.
