J, To get rid of a level, go to edit | set of section level, then use the 4 and 6 keys to move through the headings and the 2 and 8 keys to up/down the section level. I don't know whether you can delete the heading marker from this location, but to delete it while in play mode, move to the section specificly by moving to the desired level with 2 and 8, then move to the section by pressing the 4 and 8 keys, then press the heading button repeatedly until you hear "Delete section level?", then press the enter key to confirm this. The marker has now gone.
