So it looks as if there is no way of converting a text file to MP3 and PTR
recognising the page structure without dealing with each page as a file &
manually doing this addition?

I was going to be recommending it for students in order to deal with scanned
books but suspect that this additional, not inconsiderable, step in the
process will make it unrealistic for many students...

Hi,

The best thing is to import mp3 files in individually page by page (i.e,
one file per page), then when you import one file, go to the end of the
title in the editing software, add a new page, then import the next
file. Continue as needed until the title is imported, then burn to CD
for use in any daisy player.

Andrew.

Subject: PTR Page Question...

Hi folks!

I was looking at the PTR1 today with a sighted colleague.

I am interested in using the PTR1 for scanned books that have been
converted to MP3.

I want to know if it is possible to scan a book and either convert to
MP3 (as in K1000), or import a scanned text & use the PTR PC software to
convert it, and then the critical bit, move about the book by pages.

I am looking at students using it to read text books that have been
scanned, being able to check the index and then just jump to the
relevant page, as well as being able to identify which page they are on
when reading for essay referencing purposes.

We played with it for 4 or 5 hours, couldn't work it out, even tried
RTFM!

Am I to be disappointed?
