On the Plextalk site, a new firmware version was announced on monday. Plextor plans, to make this new version available in June. Here are some comments:
There are great new features in the planned firmware. My favorite two are: 1: The ability to play MP3s without a Daisy structure on PC cards. 2: The ability to jump backward and forward in one and ten minutes steps. At the site, a couple of highlights of this new firmware version are mentioned. I hope, that the order of the playing time announcements has been changed, as announced a couple of months ago: a: elapsed time b: remaining time c: total time It is great, that the PTR1 will no longer announce the main volume level when it is changed, while a title is playing. Perhaps, this could be extended to the changing of playback speed? Instead of the time values, megabytes and kilobytes will be announced, when one presses the Info key, while recording. While it is good, to be able to hear the number of available megabytes, it is equally important, to be able to hear the amount of available recording space as a time value. In my opinion, a toggle in the menu system like: "recording space announcement" with the sub menu values "Time values (hours and minutes)" and "size values (megabytes and kilobytes)" would be best. <*** Michael Lang ***> --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
