Neil, Since the BookShare books are text only (i.e, they contain no audio portions), they will need converting to audio before you can read them on the PTR1. One myth about the PTR1 is that it contains a text to speech unit, this is untrue, what actually happened is that the prompts for the unit were recorded from a text to speech system which is commonly used in reading products.
The steps for getting this done are as follows:- 1. Go into the PRS, and do the convertion to get the audio version - this will use any existing SAPI synthesiser on the system. 2. Save the book, you will end up with the files discinfo.html and the directory containing the book. 3. Now create a new book, and export the text to audio. You will have the discinfo.html file along with the two subdirectories for each book. You now need to go and edit the discinfo.html file to ensure that both directories are referenced, the best way to do this is to copy the lines that reference the books, then ensure that they reference the correct directories. Ensure you don't specify any local paths (eg g:/daisy/book1/ etc). Instead, just don't specify any drive letters, and assume everything stems from the root. If you need an example I can sort this out. Now burn the discinfo.html file onto the CD to the root, and each book directory also. You will have a structure like this: / /book1 /book2 /book3 /discinfo.html /book1/ /book1/ncc.html /book1/*.mp3 [...] There will also be .xml files in the book directories, these are all the relevant indexes and should be left be. In short, PRS can't burn more than one book to a disk, so it needs doing manually in the way I have described. If you need any more help please get back to the list.
