Hi, I purchased mine about ten months ago from
www.expansys.com At that time it was £173, I think. It's great, but I'm afraid I have had a problem in that I don't have a microphone with a longer lead and so whenever I'm using this card, either with the inbuilt microphone or a shorter lead microphone, it picks up the "clicking sound" of the card (as it's mechanical). This really infuriates me and I've since purchased a couple of Flash cards with an adapter. Here though I've also come unstuck because the Plextor doesn't appear to like all cards, so watch out.) Anyway, if you want to go for the Toshiba card, the phone number is +44 (0)161 868 0868 A friend sent me the information originally and this is what was written at that time: Toshiba 5GB Type II PCMCIA Hard Disk Our Price: £173.31 (147.50 exc.) (Snip): If you ordered this product before 3pm today, UK customers could expect delivery next working day. Toshiba's new 1.8-inch HDD 5GB Type II PC Card hard disk drive packs high capacity into a PC Card format, providing additional portable storage and increased mobility for notebook PC users. The new 5GB PC Card offers mobile computer users the highest capacity available in a sub-2.5-inch form factor and the most cost effective solution - especially when compared to other small-footprint HDDs. It's powerful, lightweight design make it an ideal "bridge" device for sharing data between systems such as two notebooks, a notebook and digital camera or other digital gear. The new drive also functions as an external hard disk drive with robust back-up storage capacities for large multimedia files and presentations, holding as much information as 3,472 floppy disks or more than 7 CDs. Please Note that these units may be supplied in either Toshiba or Kingston packaging, they are however functionally identical. Hi, I see from some previous comments here that the Toshiba 5gb card seems to be a good option for use with the PTR1. Can anyone suggest where I can get one? I've tried GoodDealPC.com, but they will only accept international orders if paid in advance via direct bank transfer. I live in the UK and need a supplier who will take payment by credit card or PayPal. Thanks in advance.
