I have also noticed a c hum when I'm forced to use mic in the hum is
unacceptable

Wow, in such a high priced piece of equipment, it seems to me that if that
is the case, very poor judgment has been given the power supply's design if
any ripple at all is being passed to the PTR1 regardless of the
level of the input volume.

Hi,
You might flip the wall plug for the adapter, this might limit it a little.
Also, I have noticed that if the recording volume is over say 14 or 15, then
you might notice the hum when plugged in to AC.
I try to keep my recording volume between 10 and 13, but of course that will
depend on what and where you are recording.
When possible, I also would rather use a mixer to control the preamping of
all my signals and I prefer using line-in instead of mike if at all
possible.
I suspect that the power supply might be letting some AC ripple through.
Just my thoughts.
