Sharon,

Can you give us some detail on exactly how you are trying to copy the file, it's not
completely clear from your message.

The "A000001" is the name of the audio file that I presume you are trying to copy.
This will either be an ".MP3" file or a ".WAV" file. I believe that the PTR1
automatically names the audio files and does this sequentially starting with a000001
and incrementing the numeric part of the file name for each subsequent file created.
All the audio files start with the letter "A".

The files with a ".SMIL" file extension are known as the "smile" files and are used,
in conjunction with some other files, to control the navigation through the DAISY
title. You will notice that they all start with the letters "PTK" followed by a
similar incrementing number with a bunch of leading zeros.

The error message that you quote sounds a bit like a file corruption type of message
to me, which may not be good news.

I presume that you finalised the CD in order to make it "visible" to your computer?
Another thing you might try is to import the whole DAISY title into the PRS software
before trying to extract the audio file.

Anyway, please let us know a little more about exactly what you did before getting the
error message.

Cheers,

Jamie

What does this error mean. i'm trying to copy a file from a disk to my hard
drive and keep getting this message. I also tried to back it up on to a cf
card and it wouldn't do it. It also has some sml files in its directory.
What are they?

This is what the error says: Error Copying File or Folder
Cannot copy a000001: Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
OK

I sure would appreciate some help.
Sharon
