When it comes to ptxdist, it usually is a best practise to always use the ptxdist verion fitting the config file, so you should get 2011.11.0. You do not have to run "make install" or such, ptxdist will work fine from the extracted/compiled directory.

A common way to use ptxdist is to place a symlink called p in the BSPs root directory, which points to the bin/ptxdist of the correct version. Then you can just enter the directory and use
./p select
./p menuconfig
./p go
or whatever you need and will always get the correct version.
