I also agree with you about owl:sameAs (and stopped myself from mentioning it for that reason). I'm really not sure that's what you'd want to do here, as much as that's what Chris Bizer (sitting next to me) would recommend...

It was not at all my intention to suggest using owl:sameAs ;-)

Using owl:sameAs on Web Vocabularies is Data Communism. You make things equal that are not equal.
