Hi David,

Wow, that is strict, given that ISWC is clearly relevant to all of the
lists below.

Yes, but of course those lists are often populated by the same people. I can't share the actual results of my survey (it has confidential comments) but I can tell you that the message was very clear:

No more cross postings of CfPs.

None.

Go away.

Stop it now.

Shut up.

Stop.

But, OK, some are useful so put them on semantic-...@w3.org and prefix them with [CfP] so they can be filtered.

So I'm trying to see whether I can actually encourage this behaviour. If not, we'll simply ban all CfPs completely and block people who don't get the message (we blocked 2 this week already). Most of my colleagues want to ban CfPs altogether. Trust me, I'm being the nice guy here ;-)

Cheers

Phil

Miel,

Thank you for including [CfP] - that's helpful and this is clearly a
relevant event. But you have sent this to

www-rdf-inter...@w3.org
www-rdf-lo...@w3.org
www-rdf-ru...@w3.org
public-sparql-...@w3.org
public-lod@w3.org
semantic-...@w3.org

One is enough, and that one should be semantic-...@w3.org.

CfPs should not be sent to any of the other W3C ones.

As you may have seen, we're cracking down on this.

Thanks

Phil

The ISWC 2016 Doctoral Consortium will take place as part of the 15th
International Semantic Web Conference in Kobe, Japan. This forum will
provide PhD students an opportunity to share and develop their
research ideas in a critical but supportive environment, to get
feedback from mentors who are senior members of the Semantic Web
research community, to explore issues related to academic and research
careers, and to build relationships with other Semantic Web PhD
students from around the world.

The Consortium aims to broaden the perspectives and to improve the
research and communication skills of these students.

The Doctoral Consortium is intended for students who have a specific
research proposal and some preliminary results, but who have
sufficient time prior to completing their dissertation to benefit from
the consortium experience. Generally, students in their second or
third year of PhD will benefit the most from the Doctoral Consortium.
In the Consortium, the students will present their proposals and get
specific feedback and advice on how to improve their research plan.

All proposals submitted to the Doctoral Consortium will undergo a
thorough reviewing process with a view to providing detailed and
constructive feedback. The international program committee will select
the best submissions for presentation at the Doctoral Consortium.

We anticipate that students with accepted submissions at the Doctoral
Consortium will receive travel fellowships to offset some of the
travel costs.

Submissions due: May 30, 2016
