The disparity is partial ly caused by the limited access to information that would allow health care and research policy makers make more informed decisions regarding health c are services. The hindrance lies in reliably obtaining and integrating data regarding the disease burden and the respective research investments. Ther efore\, as the Linked Data paradigm provides a simple mechanism for publish ing and interlinking structured information on the Web\, an opportunity is created to reduce this information gap that would allow for better policies in response to these disparities.
