Sure!
The Validation Legacy WG, as a WG of the CA/Browser forum, is limited to dealing with validation issues for publicly trusted TLS server certificates. We are not anticipating changing that at this time, so the new Validation Subcommittee of the Server Certificate WG will also address validation only for certificates that are in scope of the Server Certificate WG. Validation for other certificates (e-mail, client, etc) will be out of scope for the new Subcommittee. On last week’s call, we discussed the fact that there may be new WGs in the future (e.g. e-mail or code signing), and they may have their own Validation Subcommittees, and those various Validation Subcommittees may coordinate work in some manner where their interests overlap, but we’ll cross that bridge once we actually have other WGs. -Tim From: Public [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Virginia Fournier via Public Sent: Monday, April 16, 2018 12:24 PM To: CA/Browser Forum Public Discussion List <[email protected]> Subject: [cabfpub] Validation Legacy Working Group Hi Tim, Would you please confirm that the scope of the Validation Legacy WG falls within the scope of the Server Certificate WG? For an LWG to continue beyond such 6 months, it must have a charter approved as described in Section 5.3.1 above, as if it was a new Working Group." The Validation Working Group has decided to pursue option (a), and will convert itself to a Subcommittee of Server Certificate Working Group on or soon after July 3, 2018. -Tim -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
