Apparently the test does not check for the task status or wait until task finishes/fails https://github.com/pulp/Pulp-2-Tests/blob/master/pulp_2_tests/tests/puppet/api_v2/test_sync_publish.py#L232 It takes some time for the task to fail, when it is in the running state `traceback` and `error` are Null, however once it fails I do see both of the keys https://pastebin.com/tE9NzPe6 That's being said the issue is not related to the changes in nectar.
