Subject: [Fedora-trans-pa] Fwd: Phonetic keyboard map for xkb

Hi,

I had created a mapping for xkb earlier. It is attached below along
with instruction to install it. However Alam had suggested the Use of
more advanced SCIM.

But as for my personal preference, I did not end up using SCIM because
it felt a bit heavy and i was more conversant with this one....... So
working with this one as of now...
Hope it helps...
Would be pleased to help, if instructions are not so very clear...

Regards
Mandeep

The following is a unicode phonetic punjabi keyboard map for xkb

Tested it on Suse 10
For installing the keyboard layout on linux, append the text given
below to the symbols file being used.
for e.g. if you are currently using keymap "in" as visible from KDE
Control Center-> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Layout (for
kde), append the following text to the file "/etc/X11/xkb/symbols/in"
as root and choose the phoneticguru as layout variant.

Hope this would be useful to someone
The AltGr key for use in the keymap can be chosen from KDE Control
Center-> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Layout -> xkb options ->
Third level Choosers
