Issue #2675 has been updated by Luke Kanies.
This is kind of the inverse of #1042, and I think it has the right approach. Really, the correct approach is that the / shouldn't have an affect either way -- I absolutely despise the way tools like cp behave differently depending on whether there's a trailing slash.
