The lookupoptions are done as a first-fit lookup (standard). Since the value can be set at any level of the hierarchy this lets the user define at whatever level makes sense, without worrying about conflicts or recursion. It's possible in the future to set up lookupoptions::* for the class, but that won't be in this first revision. I'll see if I can get some docs and tests ready this weekend.
