Issue #4821 has been updated by James Turnbull. Status changed from Unreviewed to Rejected
PEBCAK - if you have --trace enabled then yes the trace will appear. LOL. ---------------------------------------- Bug #4821: trap Rdoc errors better http://projects.puppetlabs.com/issues/4821 Author: James Turnbull Status: Rejected Priority: Normal Assignee: Category: error reporting Target version: Affected version: 0.25.5 Keywords: Branch: When the "doc" directory already exists when running puppet doc like:
$ puppet doc -m rdoc --modulepath=/etc/puppet/modules --manifest=/etc/puppet/manifests/site.pp --trace --debug
It results in a messy error. It'd be better if this was cleaner:
info: scanning: ["/etc/puppet/modules", "/etc/puppet/manifests"] /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/rdoc/dot/dot.rb:28: warning: already initialized constant NODE_OPTS /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/rdoc/dot/dot.rb:46: warning: already initialized constant EDGE_OPTS /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/rdoc/dot/dot.rb:76: warning: already initialized constant GRAPH_OPTS /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/util/rdoc.rb:37:in `rdoc' /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/application/doc.rb:85:in `rdoc' /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/application/doc.rb:59:in `send' /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/application/doc.rb:59:in `run_command' /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/application.rb:300:in `run' /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/application.rb:397:in `exit_on_fail' /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/application.rb:300:in `run' /usr/lib/ruby/site_ruby/1.8/puppet/util/command_line.rb:55:in `execute' /usr/bin/puppet:4 Could not generate documentation: RDoc error Directory doc already exists, but it looks like it isn't an RDoc directory. Because RDoc doesn't want to risk destroying any of your existing files, you'll need to specify a different output directory name (using the --op <dir> option).
-- You have received this notification because you have either subscribed to it, or are involved in it.
