Issue #4869 has been updated by Nigel Kersten.

To clarify, if you dual-boot Mac hardware, you'll see that when Linux is
installed, the $productname fact reports the same thing as $sp_machine_name
does under OS X.

Although the latter uses system_profiler -xml to determine it, the same info
can be gotten via sysctl hw.model

Nathan, can you post the facter output for each OS here so we can make sure
we're addressing the issue correctly?

'productname' in Facter on OS X should return that which is shown from `sysctl
hw.model`

currently it's not present, which means manifests will need to have case
selects on if it's there or to get sp_ facts
