Issue #8344 has been updated by Steve Shipway.

-e would be great, but currently conflicts with --enable. I'm just not keen on
the long --environment string when this option is used far more frequently than
eg --enable or similar. I'm of the feeling that the options used the most
frequently -- such as --environment -- should have the shortest abbreviations
possible available.

Feature #8344: Allow --env as a shorthand for --environment

It gets a bit wearying to have to type --environment=dev all the time when Im
testing new manifests. Can we have --env as a synonym for --environment as a
parameter to puppet agent?
