I've got intimate experience with both rpm and yum internals, but the
main problem is sporadic time. I've started to look at some bugs such
as:

Looking at 1465 the majority was a bug in rpm, now it seems like there
might be another issue layered in there based on the last comment, but
I firmly believe in one bug per issue. I can look at the ensure latest
issue and see what's up there.
