I just started using 'spec' directly.  That error happens no matter what I try. 
 I've tried 'rake
unit' and 'rake unit/transaction' with the same result.

I then had to comment out the line in spec_helper.rb that includes the monkey 
patches to get it
working just by running 'spec' but it seems to be working now...I think.
