The 'require' function as currently written is entirely broken and I  
hope to take a crack at *something* for it this afternoon.  In my  
investigations, I appear to have run across a subtle backward  
compatibility issue between 0.25.x and 0.24.x, which complicates the  
whole thing a bit.

I should have something today, one way or another.
