One convention that works (for me at least) is to use complex numbers
where the real part is for the actual code and the imaginary part is for
the idea.  Thus (+1+1i) means "Oh yeah, we need this and it should
work", (-1+1i) means "I like the idea but the code isn't right" and
(+1-7i) means "Yeah, the code does what you say but it's a really bad
idea" and so forth.
