I think this is already a huge improvement. Changelogs are what users use
to determine the suitability of a upgrade so we should write them with that
in mind.
I agree with this.
I also think formatting is important - make sure the descriptions of
each change all line up so it is easy to scan quickly. In fact, I'd even
go as far as putting the description at the start of the line and
relegating the commit hash and issue# to the end of the line (I
generally don't need to know those).
Oh, and I prefer plain-text mail. :)
