I'm not aware of any effort to do so. For Puppet Enterprise we already
create our own ruby that doesn't interfere with the system ruby. EL6 will
likely continue using ruby 1.8.7 for as long as it exists, so there
shouldn't be a problem there. When we eventually drop support for 1.8.7, we
may do something similar to what we did for EL5, which is to create a
supported ruby that is available for the platform. However the software
collections might be another possibility.
