Hello. I was wondering if there was discussion on this before. I did search for it... When I approached this topic at PuppetConf, I received either confused or crestfallen looks...
I have worked in heterogeneous environments that used AD's LDAP/Kerb for Linux and Unix, and so the uids/gids as well as sids were in LDAP. Having the uid return the sid, breaks using AD's LDAP in such environments. I would rather just pull an attribute titled sid, and any account modification that uses sid will be OS dependent. Right now, any code that uses or manages uid, will not be able to manage user resources across both platforms where ActiveDirectory is used. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Puppet Developers" group.
