So a release candidate is tagged blah-2.6.0rc1.tar.gz a release is 2.6.0.tar.gz. By dowloading a tarball that is called 2.6.0 - you are getting 2.6.0. > 2.6.0-rc1 or something in the file name? We update the page with the release - we don't want people to download RCs AFTER the release goes out.
