Well, the puppet master is careful not to let /etc/puppet be a symlink. Just make /home/era/speedy_repo/puppet-eduardo/puppet be a symlink to /etc/puppet/ instead of the other way around. That should do the trick. You may need to tweak puppet.conf so that the puppet master won't break your permissions during each start.
