Yes that's right. Thanks for adding the <Alt> versions, that's a fine workaround, I can live without Meta although I'm still a bit puzzled why I don't have it. (Tried with us and gb keymap; tried on Eee 701 and Eee 904HD; same results.)

This is with the default keymapping (us) and also after running "setxkbmap gb". These ones work for me: <Alt>F2 (xfrun4); <Control>Escape (xfce4-popup-menu), ... any that don't involve <Meta> I think.
