No not as long as ceph tells me to upgrade ;-) But most probably that won't happen before Firefly minor version 3 or 4.

If so, would it be better to stay with dumpling packages by default? User can 
simply add newer
ceph repository then if needed.

That was my idea. I think it would be great if proxmox follow the stable recommandations of the ceph team.
